Victoria, British ColumbiaPhoto (c) Tourism Victoria
Just off the coast of British Columbia lies Vancouver Island. The capital of the island is Victoria which is named after Queen Victoria. The Parliament is located here and situated on gorgeous lush lawns covered with colorful flowers and bushes. Victoria is called the ‘Garden City’ because it is full of gardens and parks. Many families and tourists visit the city every year to enjoy the many museums, picnic areas, beaches and waterfront. Parliament lights up the whole downtown area every night and the city’s cobblestone roads add a classic look to the area.

It is a year-round destination for tourists and it is easily accessible by float planes and BC ferries. Victoria is considered a very safe area for people to visit and it has an old fashion charm about it. It also is considered a University town as there is the University Canada West, Royal Roads University and the University of Victoria in the city limits. There is a lot of history to explore in the city and there are hints of it everywhere with architecture, museums and First Nations Art. On the main street of Victoria you will find loads of shops, restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
