1985 - 1988

In the middle of December the Skytrain opens up for business and starts running from Vancouver to New Westminster.

1994 The Vancouver Canucks lose in the final moments of the Stanley Cup play-offs while the BC Lions won the Grey Cup a second time. 1995 The popular downtown Vancouver Public Library building opens as a landmark.

1999 The Vancouver Olympic Bidding Team organizes a proposal for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

2002 – 2003 Vancouver, British Columbia and Melbourne, Australia are rated the top cities to live in, in the world.

2003 On July 1st, 2003, GM Place broadcasts the announcement that Vancouver is selected to host the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games.
