Vancouver is home to the largest gay population within the Western side of Canada. There are colorful shops along Davie Street located in Vancouver’s famous West End.

Vancouver is becoming the main destination for gay marriages to take place. The Government came to a decision on July 8th, 2003 that gay marriages could take place in Canada. The couple has to be over 19 years old and single at this time. Gay couples only have to obtain a marriage license and attend a civil service to become legally married in British Columbia. Also, Gay couples do not have to be residents of the province to get married, so anyone can go to Vancouver and tie the knot.

Davie Street and the West End is the main location for Vancouver gay community and you will that there is a young vibe in the area regardless of age. Davie Village lies in the heart of the West End and it is where Vancouver’s gay community and guest can enjoy countless shops, gay bars, yummy restaurants and a cool amount of fun nightclubs.

It is a very straight-friendly neighborhood and the community itself is friendly, and exciting. Davie Village is a great area for hanging out with friends, visitors, and just general people watching.
