The Vancouver Playhouse began as a fund raising company and then attracted around 1,000 people in 1979. This large group which included Robert Mondavi, all attended a two day event at the University Women's Club owned Shaughnessy Mansion, as well as the two day event at Hycroft.
In its fourth year running it attracted approximately 45 California wineries which led them to their 9th event in 1987 as a multi-national festival. The event was then moved over to the Vancouver Convention Centre and has been held there 20 years to date.
Nowadays this festival brings in wine lovers from all over the globe and features the best wines, dining, samples, competitions and more. It is an amazing opportunity to wine and dine with some of the top winery companies in the world and this event is suitable for beginners in wine or the advance novice.
