Introduction to Yaletown:
Yaletown is one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is an area full of electric vibes, restaurants, boutique shops, cafes, bars and nightclubs. This neighborhood used to be a large warehouse district up until the 1980's.
Location:
Located at the waters edge of downtown Vancouver, Yaletown was re-created later in the 1980's. It began to turn into a small urban, yet trendy community. It now has a mix of expensive condos, design companies, fancy waterfront restaurants, gourmet markets, boutique shops, and business offices. There is still a lot of building going on in Yaletown, and new condominiums are going up, or being re-furbished.
New Companies:
There are many new companies that inhabit Yaletown now such as microbreweries, the BMW's Mini Cooper Showroom, boutique hotels, and art galleries.
Yaletown Seawall Activities:
A walk on the seawall in Yaletown is a pleasurable activity of many locals, and visitors, and you will see skateboarders, enthusiastic cyclists, speed walkers, yoga lovers, and roller-bladers. Yaletown is a pet lovers paradise of purse-sized doggies, and you might even catch a cat being walked by its owner. There are quite a few nail salons and yoga centers in this area of downtown Vancouver as well. Put your feet up at the Nail Bar on Pacific Street and have a pedicure and a glass of wine!
Where to Eat in Yaletown:
Enjoy food shopping, or have lunch at jazzy Urban Fare where you can listen to pleasant music, enjoy food samples, and stroll around. Just outside Urban Fare, you will find Yaletown's marina and spectacular waterfront dining.
Nightclubs in Yaletown:
Yaletown is a very popular nightclub area and home to some of the best nightclubs in downtown Vancouver. Check out Bar None for dancing, and drinks at Opus Hotel and Bar beforehand.
Where to Stay:
There is only one hotel in the heart of Yaletown, called Opus Hotel. Stay there if you want to be in a posh, elegant, and classy hotel. It is close to all the shops and popular restaurants.
