BC Blueberries at Vancouver-area U-Picks

From mid-July through October, blueberries ripen in the fields around British Columbia. There are over 800 blueberry farms in the province, and some in the Vancouver area operate as u-picks where visitors can fill up containers and buy berries by the pound. Half the fun is snacking on berries while you pick.

Most of the u-pick farms are in the Fraser Valley, a rich agricultural region east of Vancouver. It's about an hour-long drive from the city, a bit more if traffic is heavy. Call ahead to check that the berries are ripe, and then plan to arrive at the fields in the morning. Some farms can be picked-out by the afternoon.
