The Olympic and Paralympic Games are heading to Vancouver & Whistler in 2010! The decision was made on July 2nd, 2003, when the City was chosen and announced as the host city. Known as a famous ski resort, Whistler will also host the games with the City of Vancouver. This will be a historic event for Vancouver.

The City has a population of just over 2,000,000 people, and it has millions of visitors each year. The City is surrounded by white-capped mountains, and they all include ski hills that are only just a few kilometers from the downtown core.

The new Sea to Sky Highway is under construction right now, and will be expanded by the time the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games arrive. This highway will allow people to travel from Vancouver to Whistler for all of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

The opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympic Games will be held at BC Place. BC Place is an amazing inflated white dome stadium that can hold just over 59,000 people, and it is located in the downtown core.
