On the first day the ice-skating rink at Robson Square was open, December 6, only a few skaters were warming up the ice with their blades. But as Christmas approaches, the below-ground-level rink that's officially called GE Ice Plaza will only get busier.
The covered, outdoor skating rink re-opened in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics. As it did during the Olympics, the rink still offers free ice-skating. You can bring your own skates, or rent a pair on-site for $4. Skate rentals are free for kids 12 and under, and there are helmets available too. For those who don't skate, rent a pair of ice cleats and walk out onto the ice. The cleats will give a better grip on the ice, and allow you to get out on the ice for photographs.
