Outdoor Ice-skating Rink at Robson Square Now Open

By December 9, 2011

Follow me on:

On the first day the ice-skating rink at Robson Square was open, December 6, only a few skaters were warming up the ice with their blades. But as Christmas approaches, the below-ground-level rink that's officially called GE Ice Plaza will only get busier.GE Ice Plaza at Robson Square

The covered, outdoor skating rink re-opened in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics. As it did during the Olympics, the rink still offers free ice-skating. You can bring your own skates, or rent a pair on-site for $4. Skate rentals are free for kids 12 and under, and there are helmets available too. For those who don't skate, rent a pair of ice cleats and walk out onto the ice. The cleats will give a better grip on the ice, and allow you to get out on the ice for photographs.

Season: December 2011 to February 2012
Hours:
Sun-Thurs, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fri-Sat, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Cost: Free
Skate rentals: $4 for skaters 13 and over
Helmet rentals: $2 for skaters 13 and over
Ice cleat rentals: $2
