The History of Vancouver

History began in 1792, when Captain George Vancouver ventured to the Pacific Northwest and mapped a piece of land, now known as downtown Vancouver. He gave British names to many parts of the downtown core such as the popular beach English Bay. Captain George Vancouver returned to England knowing that his name would be immortalized in less than a hundred years, and that he created a large part of history.

Some may wonder what happened after this discovery, and what took place next. Vancouver has a very long timeline of events. From the beginning of the fur trade, to the inflation of BC Place, Vancouver's life has been anything but dull.
