Enjoy Vancouver’s best beaches during the months of June, July and August when 10 percent of Vancouver’s yearly rainfall arrives. The Pacific Ocean isn’t as warm as you would think so some people jump in and jump out quickly. If you want to catch a beautiful sunset then you should visit English Bay and Kitsilano Beach. They are both known for their gorgeous colorful sunsets throughout the summer and even into the early part of Autumn. Kitsilano Beach is situated along Arbutus Drive and is known as ‘Kits Beach’ to locals. There is a saltwater pool that is warmer than the Pacific Ocean for all to enjoy.

Just a short walk from English Bay is Second Beach which lies on the western rim of Stanley Park. You and your family and friends can enjoy a snack bar, a playground and a heated oceanside swimming pool. It is open in May and stays open until September. It is great for families and is inexpensive to get in. If you go a little further past Second Beach, you will find Third Beach where Vancouverites and tourists bring their coolers, grills and barbecue for the day.

Sunset Beach is located at the South end of English Bay, just steps away from the Burrard Bridge. It is a photo opportunity with its sandy beaches and logs that help protect sunbathers from cold winds. If you walk past Pioneer Park you will find Jericho Beach which is situated on Alma Street. It is a social spot for tourists and locals.

Spanish Banks is a beautiful beach just off North West Marine Drive and is wrapped around the northern side of the University of British Columbia. If you go just below the University of British Columbia’s Museum of Anthropology you will find Point Grey Beach which is a restored harbor defense area. After Point Grey, you will find Canada’s largest nude beach, Wreck Beach. You have to take the steep trail number 6 from the UBC campus to get to this beach. You don’t have to go nude to enjoy this beach, but be prepared to see a lot of nudists basking in the Vancouver sun.
